About Falkenstein

Nestled in a charming hilly landscape, you will find the wine village of Falkenstein in the eastern Weinviertel amidst vineyards. The mighty castle ruin towers above the village, visible even from a distance. Numerous historical buildings and sights, exquisite wines and a lively cultural life characterize this small, traditional wine village.

Cozy wine taverns, marked hiking trails and numerous cultural and social events await the guest.

Viticulture is the most important economic sector of the village. Limestone-rich, loamy soils with sandstone admixture allow the vines to thrive optimally. Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Weißburgunder, Zweigelt and Blauer Portugieser are the most common varieties. In the course of centuries of winegrowing tradition, one of the largest and most beautiful cellar lanes in the Weinviertel was created, as well as a sophisticated wine culture, the cultivation of which is a special concern of the Falkenstein winegrowers.
